Flathead Wild

Synopsis

The Flathead River Valley is 158,000 hectares in the southeast corner of British Columbia, of global biological importance, and a key connector for animals moving through the Rocky Mountains. Groups want to create a national park in the lower third of the valley and a Wildlife Management Area in the rest, and in adjoining habitat. The area is threatened by an ineffective land use plan that makes mining come first, and specific coal and gold mining and coalbed methane development proposals.
