Gold River Power waste incineration & generation plant
|
Synopsis Covanta Energy & Green Island Energy hope to build a "thermal electric power plant" in Gold River, to convert 750,000 tonnes of municipal waste per year to 100 MW of energy. Vancouver is the hoped-for source of feedstock, to be barged to Gold River. In July 2010 BC's Environment Minister approved Metro Vancouver's waste management plan, including the option of waste incineration within the Metro region and outside of it. The project does not require an environmental assessment. |
